Cricket Coaching School have been scratched from this season’s Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for failing to report in due time for their league match against Brothers Union on October 8, a Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis official said on Thursday.
The incident occurred just before the league’s Eid break, when CCS arrived later than allowed for the match in question at the Fatullah ground. The contest was postponed after Brothers asked for a walkover.
The match was expected to start at 9:00am, with the teams required to arrive 45 minutes before that time as per the league by-laws, which also allow for a 30-minute grace period. CCS arrived at Fatullah at 8:50am due to a traffic incident.
‘CCS is relegated as they failed to arrive in time,’ said CCDM member secretary Rakib Haider. ‘There will be one more team to be relegated from the league this year,’ he added.
A similar case occurred last year, when Surjo Tarun were relegated for arriving late for a match against Kalabagan Krira Chakra.
Rakib also said that the league will resume on October 27.
