The country needs qualified and trained nurses for better healthcare services and the proper application of nursing services can ensure the health care for individuals, families, and communities of the country. Prof. Dr Sarder A Nayeem, chairman of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital made the observation while addressing ‘The Capping Ceremony 2013’ for the 1st year students of Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery course at Japan Bangladesh Friendship Institution in the city. The capping ceremony was jointly organised by Japan Bangladesh Friendship Institution and Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital.
Japan Bangladesh Friendship Institution is a sister concern of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital. In this occasion, 40 students were received the nursing caps for the honour of completion of their 1st year in respective discipline.
Addressing the chief guest, Dr Nayeem has underscored the need for skilled nurse to improve the entire medical treatment of the country.
He said that nursing services are a component of health systems that is essential to society and added that nurses can provide the majority of the care included in the basic packages of clinical and public health services.
Prof Dr DGU Ahsan, managing director of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Nursing Institution stressed for improving the behaviour of the nurses which can ensure the proper treatment of the patient.
Pof Donald James Gomage, member governing body of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Nursing Institute said that country needs 3 lakh skilled nurses for ensuring proper medical treatment of the country but only 30 thousand nurses are providing the nursing services which are very low for the demand.
The capping ceremony was also addressed among others by Prof Dr Jonaid Shafiq, managing director of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital and Mahbubul Alam Babu, director operation and marketing of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital.
