Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH) and Help Foundation jointly organised a free health campaign targeting low income group people of Bau Bazar, Zigatola in the city on Friday, marking the World Diabetes Day. The medical team comprised of 16 professional and 30 local volunteers including doctors, paramedics, nurses and technologists. Around 800 people received free blood sugar test, blood grouping, blood pressure checking height-weight, BMI and prescription and advices were given by the medical doctors,, says a press release. One of the prime targets was to identify the number of diabetic patient among the low income groups of people. During the campaign it was found that 150 people have already diabetes and 60 people are in border line. Prof Dr Sarder A Nayeem, Chairman, and Prof Dr Jonaid Shafiq, Managing Director of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, have inaugurated the campaign and chaired as chief guest. Among others the local elites and media personnel were also present in the campaign.
