Four revolting clubs from the First Division Hockey League along with the Players’ Welfare Association presented a memorandum to Bangladesh Hockey Federation president Air Marshal Enamul Bari on Tuesday. The three-page letter contains directions to solve the ongoing crisis of the country’s hockey, the clubs claimed. The rebellious clubs asserted that the current executive committee of the BHF was involved in foul-play and guilty of stirring one drama after the other.
BHF general secretary Khaja Rahamatullah and vice-president Abdur Rashid Sikder along with some other members were accused in the memorandum.
The clubs pointed to the ban of eight national players recently as one of the indiscretions created by the existing committee while they also vilified the current committee as ‘illegal’ going on to state that the boycotting clubs will not take part in any hockey activity under the prevailing committee.
Members of Mohammedan Sporting Club, Mariner Youngs Club, Wari Club, Bangladesh Sporting Club and the Players’ Welfare Association signed the letter.
The clubs concluded the memorandum by noting that the only solution that remained was the disbanding of the current committee and the formation of a new ad-hoc committee.
