The real life freedom fighters have acted in Ekattur-er Guerilla a film based on a true story of the war of independence in 1971.
The film illustrates some valiant guerillas, who fought and defeated the invading Pakistani army in alliance with their Bengali collaborators known as razakars who rampaged and killed thousands in the Gazipur area.
The film depicts the personal account of a freedom fighter named Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, who fought against the Pakistani army in Boardbazar, Gazipur area.
Islam also acted in the film along with noted actor Sohel Rana, who is also a freedom fighter.
Alexander Bow, Nupur, Khaleda Akter Kalpona, and others also perform in the film.
‘Real life freedom fighters have been selected to act in the film so that the story is as close as possible to the actual events of the war,’ said director Mizanur Rahman Shamim.
‘It has always been my dream to make a film on the war of independence as I am a son of a freedom fighter,’ said Shamim to New Age who also believes that the film will be as popular as Chashi Nazrul Islam’s Ora Egarojon, the first film after the independence of the country.
‘We have tried our best to convincingly portray the real events of the war. It was a challenging task to create the environment of 1971 still I think we have done well in depicting it,’ added Shamim.
The director further said that shooting and dubbing of the film have already been completed, and the print has been submitted to the Censor Board for censor certificate.
The film is scheduled to be released in December, the month of victory.
