Artworks by 50 leading and promising artists are on display at the ongoing charity exhibition at Dhaka Art Center in Dhanmondi.
The show displaying 95 artworks in different mediums has been organised by the art teachers of Dhaka Residential Model College to raise fund for the treatment of an ailing student Nur A Shafee Ahnaf of the college.
The three-day show titled Art Exhibition for Ahnaf features artworks by the prominent artists like Manirul Islam, Rafiqun Nabi, Farida Zaman, Najli Mansur and others.
A painting by noted artist Rafiqun Nabi is on display which features Tokai, the popular caricature character created by Nabi, walking with a dog and few crows along a road bordered with tall trees and high-rise buildings.
Eminent artist Manirul Islam’s black and white artwork, depicting some human figures in white mingling with one another on a milieu in black, is also displayed at the exhibition.
While professor Farida Zaman’s painting depicts a woman with curly, untidy hair holding a fish in heavy rain; professor Nasrin Begum’s colourful painting portrays a rural woman wearing a bright red saree leaning forward on a fence made of bamboo in a stance suggesting that she is waiting for someone known to appear on the path.
A fighting cock posing in an aggressive manner right before a cock fight has been beautifully depicted in a pencil sketch by artist Najli Mansur.
Young artist Mehedi Hasan’s painting depicting scenery of a village is also on display. The sun rays falling through the branches of trees on a rural hut create a magical view in the painting.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on Sunday, will remain open for everybody from 3:00 to 8:00pm till today.
