The British government has brought a change to the existing passport services for its nationals living abroad including Bangladesh. “From Monday (November 25), the application process will be centralised and British nationals living in Bangladesh should submit their applications to the British High Commission in Dhaka,” a press release of the British High Commission said on Tuesday. The release added that the applications will then be sent to Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK for processing.
This important change follows reviews by the UK National Audit Office and is designed to achieve economies of scale, greater security and consistency in decision making.
The UK government has enhanced sophisticated security features of all British passports to reduce the possibilities of identity theft and passport fraud. Until November 25, 2013, British nationals living in Bangladesh submitted their passport applications to a regional processing hub in Hong Kong via the British High Commission in Dhaka.
