Seasoned dancer and researcher Lubna Marium represented Bangladesh in the two-day annual general meeting of the World Dance Alliance–Asia Pacific that ended on Sunday in the Taiwanese capital Taipei.
Lubna Marium, the vice-president of WDA-AP, presented a scholarly paper on the popular performing art forms of Bangladesh in the conference, jointly hosted by the dance department of the University of Taipei and Dance Research Society of Taiwan.
Her paper was appreciated by the delegates from across the world.
‘It was a successful tour, but I’m not happy at all as we had to postpone the scheduled dance conference in Dhaka for the ongoing political turmoil,’ Lubna Marium told New Age after returning home.
‘We had all the preparations to host the programme where 500 delegates were supposed to attend. Internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi dancer Akram Khan agreed to present the keynote paper in the event,’ regrets Marium. Lubna Marium now plans to host the event in 2015 in Dhaka.
