The found of woman was dead on Wednesday night in Deobhog Banglabazar area under the Fatulla police in Narayanganj. The deceased was Amena Khatun, 18, daughter of Sohrab Hossain and married to Nur Mohammad four months ago but lived at her parents’ house in the area along with her husband. The victim’s mother, Laily Begum, alleged that Nur Mohammad often tortured her daughter for dowry and on the day of the incident, he again beat her up in the morning for money.
She said her daughter committed suicide as she could not take the torture any more.
Laily also alleged that her daughter was forced to commit suicide but the Fatulla police wrote down a false statement while filing the general diary that said none was responsible for the death and took her signature cheating on her as she was completely illiterate.
The Fotulla police subinspector, Khairul Islam, denied the allegation and said that the victim’s mother asked them to file the GD in this way.
