The International Cricket Council asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to submit a report on the current situation in the country, BCB officials said on Monday.
The request from cricket’s governing body comes after the West Indies Under-19 team’s sudden withdrawal from their ongoing series in Bangladesh – a decision the West Indies Cricket Board made citing security concerns.
A bomb exploded on the rooftop of a pastry shop near the team hotel in Chittagong, prompting the postponement of the second game of the series before the WICB decided to pull out of the series.
The ICC, which is closely monitoring the situation ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in March, asked the BCB to inform them about the current sitution.
‘ICC wanted to get an update regarding the current state of affairs,’ said BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
‘We will send [it to] them accordingly.’
