The Rajshahi Wild Life Management and Nature Preservation Department on Tuesday freed 48 birds of different types of native birds. The department, conducting a mobile court in the Rajshahi rail station area, seized the birds and sentenced the poacher to 15 days’ imprisonment.
Convicted Shafikul Islam was identified as son of Lokman Islam, resident of Seroil in the Rajshahi city. Executive magistrate Joysree Rani Ray delivered the verdict.
According to a press release of the department, the divisional forest officer, Mollah Rezaul Karim, freed six rose ringed parakeet, 12 spotted doves, 30 Indian silver bill munia on the department office premises at about 12:30pm.
