The seventh edition of the Bangladesh Premier Football League has been scheduled to start on December 27, Bangladesh Football Federation officials said after a professional football league committee meeting on Tuesday. The BFF also decided to hold the first leg matches at neutral venues in Dhaka after taking into consideration the country’s current political situation.
The venues are the Bangabandhu National Stadium and Birsrestha Shahid Sipahi Mohammed Mostafa Kamal Stadium.
‘We decided to begin the professional league from December 27, and the 10 participating clubs agreed on principle to participate in the upcoming meet,’ senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi said after the PFLC meeting.
‘Considering the political situation, it will be tough for us to arrange the
first leg matches on a home-and-away basis, so we decided the first leg will be held in our nominated venues in Dhaka,’ he added.
The BFF will hold two matches per day, with at least three match-days in a week.
It was also confirmed that the player transfer window for the Bangladesh Championship League will remain open until December 30, and the competition will begin in the first week of January.
