The Bangladesh Football Federation on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Sports Council for the instalment of an artificial turf at the Birsreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur. As per the MoU, the Mostafa Kamal Stadium was leased to the BFF by the NSC for 10 years although FIFA instructions suggest the number of years in a lease-agreement should be 20.
NSC secretary Sibnath Roy and BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag signed the MoU at the NSC Tower. BFF vice-president Badal Roy was also present among others in the programme.
The artificial turf will be placed in Kamalapur according to the guidelines of the FIFA Goal Project.
‘We have signed a 10-year agreement. We will send the document to FIFA for approval,’ said Badal. Once
FIFA approves the project, the artificial turf will be installed.
Meanwhile, Sibnath also assured that the unfinished works at the BFF Academy in Sylhet will be completed soon and handed over to the BFF.
‘We are trying to clear the contractors’ fees by this month. We are also in the final stages of completing the work in the grounds. The painting of the building will also be completed soon,’ said Sibnath.
Badal is expecting the Academy to be ready by February.
