A total of 54,412 students got primary scholarship this year, the minister for primary and mass education minister, Mostafizur Rahman, said on Sunday.
Of the 54,412 students, 21,978 received talent-pool scholarship and 32,434 students general scholarship, he said at a press briefing at the secretariat.
Among the talent-pool scholarship winners, 11,024 are girls while the students receiving general scholarship included 16,026 girls.
The scholarship awards were announced on the basis of results in the primary education completion examination 2013.
Each of the students who got the talent-pool award would receive a monthly scholarship of Tk 200 and Tk 200 each year. Students who received general scholarship will each get Tk 150 per month and Tk 150 a year.
Students can collect the results of scholarship at www.dpe.gov.bd.
In 2009, the government, in place of the scholarship exams, introduced the public exams for the Class V students with the view to minimising discrimination.
But it continued the scholarship facilities to the students.
