World Children’s Theatre Day was celebrated through a colourful programme at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.
Peoples’ Theatre Association, in alliance with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, organised the programme.
Numerous child and young theatre artistes from different educational organisations and theatre troupes attended the programme. They presented magic, music, acrobat, clown shows and mini theatre plays to celebrate the day. The warm and jovial partaking by the participants at the programmme created a joyous atmosphere in the hall.
Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and president of People’s Theatre Association, and SM Mohsin, advisor of Peoples’ Theatre Association, attended the programme and delivered speeches.
ASSITEJ, an international association of theatre troupes across the world, declared March 20 as the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People in 2001. The slogan of this year is ‘Take a Child to the Theatre Today’.
