Bb’s Tk 200-Crore Revolving Fund

Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday incorporated 26 more green products in its Tk 200-crore revolving fund in a bid to build an environment-friendly economy.
The BB issued a circular to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks and non-bank financial institutions saying that it incorporated 26 more products including biomass-based large biogas plant, poultry and dairy-based biogas pant, solar cooker assembly plant, solar water heater assembly plant, solar energy-based power production plant, solar energy-based cold storage, power switch assembly plant with auto sensor to reduce electricity, and tube light assembly plant.
Initially, the BB introduced the refinance scheme in August 2009 to finance the solar energy, bio-gas and effluent treatment plant, a BB official told New Age on Tuesday.
The central bank included new products in its revolving fund on July 1, 2013 totalling the products number to 18 and it has now extended the fund for more green products, the official said.
According to the BB circular, a cooperative society, which has obtained licence from Registrar of Joint Stock, can apply to get the bank credit to set up biomass-based large biogas plant, and poultry and dairy-based biogas pant.
The borrower will get maximum Tk 2 crore loan with 9 per cent rate of interest and he or she will facilitate a grace period of nine months to repay the loan.
The tenure of the loan is five years and the client will have to pay the instalment of the loan on the basis of quarterly or monthly.
A client will be able to get Tk 2 crore from the banks and the NBFIs to set up solar cooker assembly plant and solar water heater assembly plant with an interest rate of 9 per cent.
A borrower will be able to get Tk 8 crore to set up solar energy-based cold storage with an interest rate of 9 per cent.
The tenure of the loans is 10 years and the clients will have to pay the instalment of the loan on the basis of quarterly or monthly with one year grace period.
A bank will disburse maximum Tk 3 crore and Tk 2 crore respectively to a client to set up LED tube light assembly plant and power switch assembly plant with auto sensor to reduce electricity with an interest rate of 9 per cent.

The BB asked the banks and the NBFIs to disburse loans to set up recycling plants for paper production by processing the used papers and waste goods of plastic products.
A client will get maximum Tk 2 crore loan from the banks and the NBFIs to set up the recycling plants with an interest rate of 9 per cent.
The tenure of the loans is five years and the clients will have to pay the instalment of the loan on quarterly or monthly basis with nine months of grace period.
A bank will sanction maximum Tk 8 crore to a client to set up hazardous waste treatment plant. The rate of interest for the loans is 9 per cent and tenure is five years.
