The 54th council meeting of Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation will be held in Dhaka in September, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission officials said on Thursday. CTO, launched in 1967, is an organisation of more than 33 commonwealth countries to promote telecom and IT related cooperation. The 54th CTO council meeting and 12 annual forum are scheduled to be held in Dhaka from September 29 to October 3.
‘It’s our privilege to host such an international event. Two CTO representatives joined us this week to help us with the preparation. I hope with their help we will be bale to organise a successful event,’ BTRC system and services department director general Golam Mowla Bhuiyan told reporters in a briefing on the day.
CTO director and head of the operations Lasantha De Alwis said Bangladesh seem to be a great venue for the CTO council meeting this year.
‘We have seen the arrangements and BTRC’s organisational capacity is very good,’ he said.
He also said that Bangladesh will be beneficiary from the event.
‘It’s a knowledge sharing event and that knowledge will be helpful to all the stakeholders in Bangladesh,’ he said.
