Bangladesh Bank on Thursday asked scheduled banks and non-bank financial institutions to introduce full-fledged e-tendering system by December 2015.
The central bank issued the directive in line with its steps towards promoting green banking and developing eco-friendly internal management of the banks and financial institutions by reducing use of paper, said the BB.
The BB issued a circular to managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks and NBFIs in this regard.
The e-tendering system must be web-based which will be attached with the respective web sites of the banks and NBFIs.
The e-tendering system will also increase accountability and transparency of the financial sector, the BB circular said.
The central bank introduced the e-tendering system in May 2010 for its own procurements.
