Zimbabwe cricket coach Stephen Mangongo said Bangladesh batsmen must complement their bowlers if they are to come out on top in the forthcoming Test series against his side.
Mangongo agreed to the suggestion that the series is essentially a battle between Zimbabwe batsmen and Bangladeshi bowlers but added that the other sets of players complement each other.
‘I think this can be a good match between our batsmen and Bangladeshi bowlers. But if Bangladesh are to win, their batsmen have to score enough runs and the seamers also have to join the party,’ he said.
Mangongo said his team is excited to play in Bangladesh, where he believes the hosts will enjoy the status of favourites.
‘Tigers are stronger in their home conditions. We need to be more positive and play our best cricket,’ said Mangong.
Skipper Brendan Taylor added that the series will be challenging for them more so because this is their first Test series away from home in more than a year.
‘We haven’t played a Test out of the country in 18 months. So, the new series will be challenging for us,’ Taylor said in team’s first official press conference.
‘To play against Bangladesh is very exciting. We’ve three Test and five ODI matches ahead of us. We are now looking forward to that.’
