A UK-based football management company, Soccer League International, has come out with a proposal of organising a franchise football league in Bangladesh.
Mohammad Kabir, a UK-based businessman of Bangladeshi origin, who is also the managing director of the company, arrived in Dhaka on Sunday along with an adviser of the company, Jonathan James.
Kabir informed the local media that they have a proposal of £50 million to run the league in Bangladesh.
Reputed international companies like Hero Group and the Reliance Group are interested to invest in the league, he said.
The company is expected to hold a meeting with the Bangladesh Football Federation general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag today before presenting their project proposal to the BFF president Kazi Salahuddin on Tuesday.
They are also expected to inspect the infrastructure of Bangladesh football during their visit.
Kabir visited BFF earlier in June after holding primary talks with the BFF high-ups during a FIFA Congress in Zurich.
Kolkata-based sports management company, Celebrity Management Group, had earlier come up with a similar proposal to the BFF in January this year, claiming they would involve Argentine legend Diego Maradona in their proposed ‘Super Soccer League’.
However, the company did not make any correspondence with the BFF after being asked by the game’s governing body to bring in Maradona here for a joint press conference.
