The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday grabbed several counterfeited tickets during the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament final between India and Bangladesh as fans were cheated through forgery.
The tricksters took the chance with the ignorance of the fans, who went crazy for the ticket of the final. A ticket was the most sought after commodity in Dhaka after Bangladesh reached the final by beating Pakistan.
Only a handful of tickets available in the designated booth and the frustrated fans, who were manifold in numbers than the alloted tickets, clashed with police amid chaos.
Ticket blackers made a brisk business as tickets worth of Tk 150 were sold for as high as Tk 4,000.
BCB security consultant major (retried) Hossain Imam said his men found several fake tickets.
In the fake tickets the logo of Bangladesh Cricket Board was printed while they also mentioned the name of two finalists.
BCB logo and the names of two finalists were absent in the original ticket.
‘We have found about 50 fake tickets,’ said Imam.
‘No action was taken against the bearers of fake tickets as BCB felt they were cheated, said Imam.
