Bangladesh skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza on Friday made a passionate statement in support of his two bowlers who were reported with for suspect bowling action during the ICC World Twenty20.
Mashrafee said they played their Friday’s qualifying match against Ireland only for Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed, who were reported by the match officials after the opening match.Sunny will undergo testing in Chennai today while Taskin will complete the process on Monday at the same place.
‘We went to play today just for them,’ said an emotional Mashrafee after rain
washed out their match against Ireland at Dharamsala.
‘The team backed them up fully. We have full support for them. We have also full confidence in them. Hopefully they will return clean and will serve the team as they did in the past.’
Bangladesh left out Sunny for the Ireland game but Mashrafee said it had nothing to do with his reported bowling action.
‘It’s not that he was kept out for his action. We left him out for the team combination,’ said Mashrafee.
‘Taskin was in the team and he was ready to give even more efforts.’
