Bangladesh skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza on Friday brushed aside his retirement talks once again despite a speculation that he could be playing his last Twenty20 international match against New Zealand today. Already eliminated from the semi-final race, Bangladesh will be playing their last match in the ICC World Twenty20 against New Zealand and are unlikely to play a Twenty20 international anytime soon.
‘I will think about it [retirement] only after returning back home,’ Mashrafee said regarding his immediate plan.
Mashrafee’s place in the team was questioned by some former Indian cricketers and writers after his poor show against Australia but he came back strongly both as a player and captain in the next match against India.
Mashrafee, who did not play a Test match since 2009, is expected to continue in one-day international cricket at least until the Champions Trophy in 2017 but he never indicated his future in Twenty20 format.
