The Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan Papon on Thursday avoided the view-exchange programme of Bachao Football panel ahead of Saturday’s Bangladesh Football Federation elections. Earlier the panel leaders claimed that the BCB president and the Member of Parliament from Bagerhat-2 constituency Sheikh Helal Uddin would be present on the occasion to show their support.
The panel leaders later claimed that they requested Nazmul and Helal avoid the meeting as they did not want to drag them into any controversy.
‘I requested Papon Bhai [Nazmul] and Helal Bhai for not attending our programme because we wanted to keep them out of any controversy,’ president candidate of Bachao Football panel Kamrul Asraf Khan Poton told reporters during the programme.
A total of 134 delegates are expected to cast their votes in the BFF elections for 20 posts. Bachao football are contesting for 19 posts as senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy was elected unopposed.
