The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha is likely to hold on October 10 the lottery for allotment of plots in four categories under the Purbachal New Town Project.
‘The next phase of the lottery may be held on October 10 at 10:00am in Osmany Memorial Hall,’ said a senior Rajuk official on Tuesday.
He, however, said that the exact date of holding the lottery would be made public after holding a meeting with the housing and public works ministry soon.
The four categories of persons to whom the plots will be allocated are industrialists, businessmen, officials of autonomous bodies and service holders in the private sector.
Sources in the Rajuk said the lottery for the categories of government service holders, members of the armed forces, journalists and lawmakers may not be held as the Rajuk has tentatively decided to distribute the plots to them on the basis of the recommendations of the high-ups concerned.
Another Rajuk official said the date for holding the lottery for the Uttara (Third Phase) Project is yet to be fixed.
Rajuk on September 17 allotted a total of 1,077 residential plots for four categories — judges, artists and sportsmen, freedom-fighters and expatriate wage earners — under the Purbachal New Town project through a computerised lottery.
However, the applicants present during the lottery raised question about the transparency and impartiality of the process as most of them were not acquainted with the technology with which the lottery was held.
This time Rajuk will allot 400 plots of ten kathas, 690 plots of seven and half kathas, 3,200 plots of five kathas and 1,710 plots of three
kathas under the Purbachal New Town project, and 395 plots of five kathas and 405 plots of three kathas under the Uttara (Third Phase) Project, said Rajuk sources.
Some 40,000 expatriates have applied from abroad for the plots under the two projects along with some 1.57 lakh local people for which the city development authorities on November 25, 2008 sought applications in 12 categories, including lawmakers, judges, journalists, government service holders, officials of autonomous bodies, officials of the armed forces, artists, sportsmen, businessmen and service holders in the private sector.
