Jewellers on Monday lowered the price of gold by Tk 1,983 to Tk 97,161 a bhari (11.664 gram) on the local market as the price of the precious metal has fallen on the global market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity in a press release said that the prices of the gold were reduced on the local market amid a fall in the prices of the metal on the global market.
According to BAJUS, the price of 22-karat gold has been decreased to Tk 97,161 a bhari from Tk 99,144 a bhari.
The price of 21-karat gold has been decreased to Tk 92,728 a bhari from Tk 94,653 a bhari and that of 18-karat gold to Tk 79,490 a bhari from Tk 81,123 a bhari.
The price of traditional gold has been dropped to Tk 66,251 a bhari from Tk 67,592 a bhari, the release said.
The new price will be effective on the local market from today, said the release.
On April 1, the association increased the price of the precious metal to its previous historic high of Tk 99,144 a bhari citing higher cost of pure gold on the local market.
The price of pure gold decreased on the local market. Considering the situation, the jewelry association held a meeting in this regard recently and decided to reduce the prices, it said.
