Association of Teachers of Literatures in English, Bangladesh in association with East West University is going to host a two-day international conference on ‘Teaching English Literature and Interdisciplinarity’ starting from July 28.
The conference would be held on the campus of East West University in the capital, said a press release issued on Tuesday.
Professor Claire Chambers of University of York, UK and professor Rajeev S Patke of National University of Singapore would be present as keynote speakers.
ATLEB, a voluntary and non-profit based organisation in Dhaka, officially commenced its journey on September 4, 2021 with the aim of building an enduring network among tertiary level teachers of literatures in English.
The non-political literary organisation, headed by professor Tahmina Ahmed of University of Dhaka as the convener, has 19 working committee members from different public and private universities and more than 100 teachers at tertiary level from home and abroad are its current members.
Senior academicians professor Niaz Zaman, professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, professor Kaiser Hamidul Huq, professor Fakrul Alam, professor Quazi Mostain Billah, professor Mohit Ul Alam, professor Shafi Ahmed and professor Firdous Azim are the members of the advisory board of the association.
The association organised its first online two-day international conference titled ‘In Retrospect: 50 Years of Bangladesh in Literature and Culture’ in 2022.
