The legendary Brazilian Ronaldinho Gaucho spent a busy twelve hours in Dhaka yesterday en route to Dubai. He had arrived in Kolkata two days earlier, where he had attended several events.
Brazilian footballer who won the World Cup arrived in Dhaka around 3:45 p.m. and left the Bangladeshi capital in the early hours of Thursday, amid a media frenzy but with little to no chance for the media to speak with the 43-year-old retired player.
Upon his arrival from Kolkata, Ronaldinho, who has won nearly every individual and team trophy in his 17-year professional career—including the Ballon d’Or, UEFA Champions League, Copa America, World Cup, and Confederations Cup—was escorted to the Radisson Blu Hotel.
A meet-and-greet event called “Magical night with Ronaldinho” was held at the hotel, and the Brazilian took part. Jamal Bhuiyan, the men’s team captain for Bangladesh’s national football team, and Sabina Khatun, the captain of the women’s team, were among the guests invited to the private event.
Prior to meeting Ronaldinho, Jamal told the media how excited he was for the chance. “I’m so excited to meet my idol, and I’m filled with pride. I’m there to meet him and welcome him with my family. For me, it’s a significant moment because I’ve been a Ronaldinho fan since 2002. “.
However, the event was marred by a fuss between the organisers and media personnel, who were asked to leave the venue ahead of the start of the event.
An advertising company organized Ronaldinho’s brief stopover in Dhaka in collaboration with sports promoter Satadru Dutta of Kolkata who brought Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper to Kolkata and Dhaka in July of this year.
