A carnival of music at Alliance Française de Dhaka
The students of École de Musique, Alliance Française de Dhaka created a pleasing ambience on Friday at its La Galerie with songs and instrumental numbers. Alliance Française de Dhaka, supported by the Embassy of France in Bangladesh, celebrated Fête de la Musique which is globally known as World Music Day with a two-day concert that ended on Friday.
On first part of the day’s programme, some melodious instrumental recitals by the students of École de Musique kept the audience riveted. The concert started with the piano players taking stage and presenting some of the famous pieces one after another.
Zakia Sameen Noor’s presentation of Mexican Serenade, Afrida Nawar Jaman’s Red River Valley, Surid Sayan’s performing of River Flows in You, among others, earned wide acclaim from the audience.
Besides the piano pieces, western classical guitar, played by the students of École de Musique also arrested the audience. Mehbeez Binte Matiur, Rivu Bhattacharjee, Erfanul Haque, Pramit Kishore Choudhury, Mustahidul Hakim, Mirza Zamiur Rahman, Ahsan Rajib, Abidur Rahman and Imran Hossen Joy performed some of the most famous western classical numbers on guitar.
The students, along with some other invited guests and singers, also presented songs in Bangla, English and French at the programme.
