In stark contrast to the Kimye wedding circus, Brangelina married in secret last week. In fact, despite being one of the world’s most famous couples, they managed to keep their nuptials private for almost a week,
reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
So private that, along with the rest of the world, Jolie’s father, Jon Voight, didn’t know that it had taken place. ‘That’s nice,’ Voight said when America’s Inside Edition broke the news to him.
In a separate statement to E!, the 75-year-old actor said: ‘It sounds like it was a wonderful wedding. It must have been very beautiful with the kids participating. I know it was during Emmy weeks and they were able to do it very quietly. I’m very happy for them.’
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that, last Saturday, they tied the knot at a small chapel on the grounds of their wine chateau in the South of France.
Inside Edition reports that Angelina wore a long gown of antique lace and silk as well as a small gold locket once owned by her beloved mother, Marcheline Bertrand who died of ovarian cancer in 2007.
According to an E! News ‘source’, who said Angelina also wore a veil, ‘Brad gasped when he lifted it because she looked so stunning’.
Jolie, 39, was walked down the aisle by her sons, Maddox, 13 and Pax, 10. Daughters, Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw flower petals from the garden, while Shiloh, 8 and Knox, six, carried the rings.
‘The chapel smelt of rosemary and jasmine from the bushes outside the window and the sun streamed in the tint-stained glass windows,’ the source said.
After the ceremony, the 22 guests, which included Pitt’s two siblings and parents, gathered in the garden for a pizza party.
The couple’s six kids chose the three wedding cakes – one was a strawberry ice cream, another was a three chocolate gateau and a third had fresh cream and raspberries.
