Artist Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohim’s solo art show at Gallery Cosmos-2 in Mohakhali displays abstract paintings in different mediums.
Vibrant colours like orange and green dominate Mohim’s work, which have been inspired by the country’s nature as described by the artist.
Some of his displayed 30 artworks have been painted in mundane shades in the 10-day show titled ‘Impression of Surroundings-3’.
In his paintings, he has captured his surroundings like urban houses, vehicles, rural homes, people and commonplace elements in a way that demands the attention of the spectators.
The impressionist artist creates these images through various lines and forms those give different impressions from different angles and distances. These are the magical elements of Mohim’s abstract compositions that open one’s window of imagination.
For example, a displayed painting appears like a bamboo fence from a long distance but looks like textures of parallel lines from the close view.
‘This set of paintings has been inspired by nature in the foreign countries that are covered by fog and snow during the winter,’ Mohim explains.
Mohim creates a dreamy background with corrugated paper, newspaper and experiments with his subjects and colours while expressing the abstract reality with a lot of enthusiasm.
Born in Barisal in 1976, artist Mohiuddin Mohim has already had six solo art exhibitions to his credit at various art galleries in different parts of the country.
Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Urs Herren inaugurated the exhibition at Villa De Anjuman on Road 6 of New DOHS, Mohakhali on Friday evening.
The exhibition will remain open daily from 11 am to 8 pm till May 20.
