Popular actor Abul Hayat has performed the role of the master artist from the European Renaissance Leonardo da Vinci in Arif A Ahnaf’s teleplay
titled The Masterpiece.
With the getup and makeup like the Italian Renaissance man, Hayat will appear in dreams of a contemporary artist in the teleplay, which features an imaginary dialogue between the Italian legend and a contemporary local artist named Rudro, who dreams of making a better masterpiece than Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
‘I really enjoyed acting in the play because of the unique role I acted in,’ said Abul Hayat.
Hayat also said that he hopes the audience will like the teleplay featuring an atypical storyline. Talented actor Shahadat Hossain plays the role of the young artist.
Hayat further said that he is currently working in several drama serials including Char Kanya and Kalantor. ‘I play the character of a father in Char Kanya, who is highly concerned about his four daughters. Written by Ahsan Alamgir and directed by Debashish Barua, the play is being aired on ETV. The play also stars Dolly Zuhar, Bannya Mirza, Farah Rumah and others,’ Hayat said.
He also performs in a challenging character in the serial Kalantor, which is written and directed respectively by Pantho Shahriar and Soimo Nazrul. Shahiduzzaman Selim, Sweety, Tarin and others perform in the play that goes air on ATN Bangla.
The selective actor Abul Hayat said, ‘I first go through the script and then act only in those plays which have strong story line. Because the story is the base of the play, it has to be good so that the play becomes a good production as a whole. Besides, I also consider my character and analyse them in depth,’ also informed the endowed artiste.
The seasoned actor sees good future in talented performers of these days. ‘The upcoming actors and directors are doing well, especially many new directors are making good teleplays with innovative themes,’ said Hayat adding that he prefers to act in such plays.
‘Sometimes, the upcoming directors do mistakes because they are inexperienced. However, most of them are energetic and they come to directing plays after being fully acquainted with teleplay making,’ Hayat said.
Abul Hayat began his acting career in theatre in the mid 1950s. In his acting career of over half a century, the versatile actor has performed in different mediums including theatre, radio, TV and films and has won more than 150 prestigious awards such as Sequence Award for Merit of Shilpakala Academy, National Film Award, Meril-Prothom Alo Award, Sheltech Awards and others.
