Anti-Corruption Commission officials have kept mum about the progress of the Padma bridge corruption scam even after the return of the investigative officer from Canada.
ACC deputy director Mirza Zahidul Alam, who returned home on Sunday night, avoids journalists over the development on Padam Bridge scam. Advocate Anisul Haque, who led the two member ACC delegation in Canada, is yet to return for unknown reasons.
A senior official of the commission said that since the delegation couldn’t achieve anything significant, the ACC legal adviser was staying over to pursue the matter.
He however indicated that whether the ACC delegation received anything from Canada could be known only after the return of Anisul Haque.
When contacted ACC Chairman Ghulam Rahman told The Independent that Mirza Zahidul Alam returned on Sunday night and met him on Monday.
The ACC chief said he didn’t receive any official matter from the investigative officials so far.
Asked on whether there was any development with regard to the investigation into the Padma bridge scam, he parried the question saying that he couldn’t say anything in advance.
He also expressed his ignorance as to when the ACC legal adviser will be back.
Mirza Zahidul Alam couldn’t be reached over telephone.
The two-member ACC delegation went to Canada on May 19 to further investigate into the Padma bridge corruption conspiracy case.
The delegation was supposed to collect the copies of dairy of Romesh Saha’s dairy where he wrote the percentage against Bangladesh officials and quiz the three accused of the corruption case in this connection.
The commission filed a case against seven including three Canadian citizens in connection with Padma bridge corruption conspiracy.
