The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday filed a case against two police officers for allegedly taking one crore taka from a businessman in bribe. ACC director Nasim Anwar filed the case with Ramna Police Station. The two accused are suspended sub-inspector of the detective branch (DB) of police (North) Abul Hasnat Khandaker and sub-inspector of Bangsal Police Station Mohammad Jwel Miah. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the two policemen picked up businessman Syed Abidul Islam from his Gulshan residence on April 6 without any allegation against him. The policemen then demanded Tk 1.05 crore to Abidul for his release.
The businessman gave two cheques for one crore taka to the cop and DB’s SI Hasnat withdrew the money from the Banks and released Abidul.
