A Chittagong court on Thursday granted bail to a physician, who was sent to jail on Monday on charge of forgetting to bring out needle from the body of a patient after performing surgery.
The metropolitan sessions’ judge, SM Mujibur Rahman, granted interim bail to Dr Surman Ali until June 10 in the case filed by the victim, Aminul Islam, on condition of remaining cautious in handling the patients.
The physicians at Chittagong Medical College Hospital formed a human chain leaving the hospital on Wednesday pushing the patients to suffer.
Meanwhile, the specialist doctors, who initiated indefinite strike in private practice on Tuesday demanding immediate release of their colleague, called off the strike soon after the court granted bail to the accused physician.
