Theatre and small screen actor Dilip Chakrobarty died on Monday at his residence. He was 44.
He left behind a sister, who at present lives in Kolkata, India.
Chakrobarty who used to live alone at an apartment at Farmgate in the city was found dead at his bedroom, said a press release.
His postmortem examination was done at Dhaka Medical College hospital on Tuesday morning, the release added.
His body was taken to his home district Tangail for cremation on the same day.
Earlier, theatre activists showed respect to Dilip Chakrobarty at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Born on May 22, 1968 in Mirzapur, Tangail, Dilip Chakrobarty joined popular troupe Desh Natok in 1989.
He became popular for his brilliant performance in role of Ekalabya in Masum Reza’s play Nityapuran premiered in 2001.
He started acting in TV plays in 2002 and got popularity for his performances in Dakhin Janalar Khola Alo Ase, Tempo, Mamuli, Manush and others.
He also acted in two films: Roman Rabin’s Common Gender and Belal Ahmed’s Anishchit Jatra.
He was also the writer of TV dramas including Ekakitya, Manush, Maik Master and Sandeho.
