Not many are aware that newbie Bollwyood actress Shraddha Kapoor famed for Aashiqui 2, comes from a family of music stalwarts; she is the grand-niece of iconic singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. And her grandfather is the veteran classical singer Pandharinath Kolhapure.
So it was only natural for the actress to seek her family’s opinion as she set out to try her hand at playback singing for her upcoming film Ek Villain also starring Sidharth Malhotra, reports Hindustan Times.
An insider says, ‘As a child, she used to learn singing from him (Kolhapure). Before she hit the studio, Shraddha practised the song Gaaliyan for a couple of days. Soon after the recording, she requested for a CD with the rough cut of the track so she could get her grandpa’s feedback.’
The song is a duet with singer Ankit Tiwari.
Also, Shraddha had not informed her grandfather beforehand that she would be lending her voice to a song, since she wanted an honest opinion from him.
Says the source, ‘It took a while for him to realise that he was listening to Shraddha’s voice. And when he did, he was apparently proud and impressed. He now wants her to start doing riyaaz daily as he feels she has the potential to become a good vocalist. Shraddha was elated with his feedback.’
