Finance minister AMA Muhith has said that the Asian Development Bank had assured Bangladesh of extending all cooperation, including appointment of consultants,
river training and tender processing for the Padma bridge project.
ADB president Takehiko Nakao gave Bangladesh the assurance when the finance minister called on the ADB boss on Sunday.
Muhith went to New Delhi on May 2 to attend the annual meeting of the ADB’s board of governors on May 2-5.
‘The ADB president has assured me of giving all cooperation, including technical assistance, river training and appointment of consultants, for the construction of Padma bridge,’ Muhith told reporters after the meeting with ADB president.
Muhith informed the ADB president that government of Bangladesh had decided to construct the Padma bridge with own fund. The government is planning to float tenders for the bridge by the end of this month, he added.
‘During the meeting, the ADB president said that the development partner would continue its assistance for the development of Bangladesh’. It would provide funds for new projects along with continuing support for all under implementations development projects, said Muhith.
