Admission seekers in Sylhet on Wednesday urged the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology authorities for immediate step to hold the postponed admission tests at the institution.
They made the call from a human chain formed in front of Central Shaheed Minar in the city under the banner of ‘General students willing to get admission at SUST’ at noon.
The student representatives in a rally said they do not want to have their academic life delayed at the very beginning because of any controversial issue.
They want to start their academic career at the university as soon as possible and the authorities concerned should take initiative for holding the admission test without any further delay, the claimed.
Zahed Ahmed Talukdar, Suman Ahmed, Taj Uddin, Abu Sayeed, Mansur Ahmed, Munim Ahmed, Zahid Hasan, Shakil Ahmed, Abdul Kaiyum and Zuned Ahmed, among others, addressed the rally, the programme organisers said.
Sylhet City Corporation councillor Suhel Ahmed Ripon, social activist Shahjahan Ali, Rotarian Abdullah Al Munim and Sylhet Law College student council vice-president Mahbubul Haq Chowdhury also participated in the human chain expressing solidarity with the students’ demand.
SUST admission test for the undergraduate students in 2013-14 academic year was supposed to be held on November 30.
But, the university administration adjourned the intake test schedule following a controversy over an initiative to take the tests jointly on SUST and Jessore University of Science and Technology campuses with the same question paper and same date.
