Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Benazir Ahmed said on Saturday that the case of torture of domestic help Aduri would be transferred to the speedy trial tribunal.
‘It’s a brutal act. We’re contacting the ministry of home affairs to transfer the case to the speedy trial tribunal so that the criminal is punished soon for such act,’ the DMP commissioner said while he was visiting Dhaka Medical College Hospital to see Aduri in the afternoon.
Cantonment police rescued Aduri from near a dustbin at DOHS Baridhara Monday night.
With marks of torture on different parts of the body, Aduri was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, she was shifted to one-stop crisis centre at DMCH on Thursday.
The police arrested Nowrin Zahan alias Nadi, wife of Saiful Islam Masud, from the city’s Pallabi area early Thursday on charge of torturing Aduri.
A medical board, led by medicine department chairman Nazmul Hasan, was formed on Saturday to provide Aduri with proper treatment.
