Renowned actor Afzal Hossain, who does not appear much on small screen for the past one decade, has made a comeback in this Eid. Afzal fans will watch their favourite actor acting in two plays and a tele-film in this Eid.
More interestingly, viewers will find once the most popular romantic duo Afzal-Subarna again in a tele-film titled Prem Bachite Jane.
In fact, the tele-film, written and directed by Arif Khan, features seasoned actors like Afzal Hossain, Subarna Mustafa,Pijush Bandyopadhyay and Sadia Islam Mou, which will be aired on NTV during the Eid.
‘The script was written some four years back keeping Subarna and me on mind. I liked the script but I could not manage time and told Arif to execute the project with someone else. But, surprisingly he waited for me for four years. So I finally managed time to work for it,’ said Afzal.
‘In fact, after a long time I’m busy in small screen productions again. Though time management was tough as I switched my profession to TV commercial making, I enjoyed working for three productions simultaneously as the characters and stories are worthy to work in,’ actor Afzal Hossain, who became busy with TVC business since 1984, told New Age.
Once the ‘romantic’ hero Afzal Hossain will act a comic character in Badrul Anam Soud’s play titled ‘Rashid Karimer Bibaho Bishayak Jatilata’ to be aired on Channel 9. ‘The character is a mid-aged man living in a village and having three wives. He attempts for his fourth marriage following which many humourous events happen. The play is, indeed, satirises the system of polygyny,’ Afzal told New Age.
The seasoned actor will also play the lead in filmmaker Morshedul Islam’s TV play Gabbu O Professor Rifat, written by juvenile writer Muhammed Zafar Iqbal. ‘I liked the script because it is targeted for the child viewers and has a strong message that the elders sometimes get enlightened by children’s activities,’ Afzal told New Age.
‘In the play I’ve acted the role of professor Rifat, a world renowned Bangladeshi scientist living abroad. He comes to attend a conference in Bangladesh and at a point meets a child. This meeting gives him experience of a completely different world,’ he added.
Afzal Hossain joined Dhaka Theatre in the mid 1970s and was enlisted in BTV as an actor in the same time. From the mid-1970s, when he made his debut on the small screen, he became an icon as a romantic hero. The actor also starred in three movies including box office hit Dui Jibon and Natun Bou. Since mid 1980s Afzal is busy with TVC making and has contributed a lot for developing the sector to today’s level.
