The state minister for youth and sports, Ahad Ali Sarkar, promised to resolve the ongoing crisis in hockey soon and requested the players to continue their training for the forthcoming Asia Cup.
The assurance came when a group of national players led by national skipper Zahid Hossain called on the state minister at his office seeking his assistance to bring an end to the crisis which left them without any transfer window for months.
Mohammedan Sporting Club along with Mariner Youngs and six other premier division clubs boycotted the July 2-4 player transfers in protest at the controversial election held recently.
The clubs wanted the BHF president Air Marshal Enamul Bari to ask the National Sports Council to change its five councillors, who all are former Abahani players, before the election.
Earlier, the players refused to attend training unless they get a written transfer date.
The players joined the camp on June 10 only after the BHF announced July 2-4 transfer window.
‘The minister has assured to resolve the crisis soon,’ Zahid told reporters after the meeting.
‘We requested him to look into the matter as unless it is solved as we will face financial problem if there is no transfer,’ he said.
Ahad admitted that he had assured the players to look into the matter as soon as possible.
‘I asked the players to continue with the national camp and assured to resolve the crisis as soon as possible,’ he said.
