Mobile phone operator Airtel on Thursday launched commercial 3G service in several areas of Dhaka and Chittagong with 1mbps speed in all the 3G packages.
The Airtel also announced to provide up to 500MB of 3G data package at the price of the existing 2G data services. The 3G data package of the company starts from 15MB at the price of Tk 15. The company provides three weekly packages starting from 30MB at Tk 30 to 250MB at Tk 100.
The 500 MB package of Airtel was offered at Tk 200 with a validity period of 15 days.
The company offers two monthly packages — 1GB at Tk 350 and 5GB at Tk 950.
The Airtel 3G will be available in the city’s Nikunja, Baridhara DOHS, Gulshan , Banani, Mohakhali, Bijoy Sharani, Farmgate, Tejgaon I/A, Lalmatia, Kalabagan, Panthapath and Hatirpool areas.
In Chittagong the 3G service of the company will be available in Agrabad, GEC, Dampara, Tigerpass, Riazuddin Bazaar, Dewan Hat, CEPZ, Naval Academy, South Halishohor and Airport areas.
‘With this offer I believe Airtel will capture a unique position amongst its customers in terms of communication in the form of entertainment, infotainment, edutainment, m-health and m-commerce,’ said Airtel Bangladesh chief executive officer Chris Tobit.
