Former BNP leader Abdul Alim was responsible for the killing of 370 people during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971, prosecution witness-26 Jogen Chandra Paul said on Wednesday. Testifying against Alim at the International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2), he said the accused along with Pakistani occupation army and local peace committee members carried out the brutality at Kadipur village under the district of Joypurhat.
Jogen, hailing from Koroi Paulpara, said Alim guided the Pakistani occupation army and local peace committee members to come to Kadipur village in the second week of Boishakh in 1971.
“We saw Alim along with a group of anti-liberation people flying moon star-studded Pakistani flags taking away villagers from the east to west near my village,” he said.
“Nearly half an hour after sunset, I found scores of corpses on the bank of Dompukur (a pond). The bodies were smeared with blood and mud,” he said, adding that he could recognise only two/three bodies.
