A two-day ‘Amal fair’ marking the 11th anniversary of death of Tebhaga movement leader Amal Sen began at Bankri Primary School ground in Bagharpara on Friday. The fair features discussion meetings, art competition, recitation, dramas and cultural programmes.
Civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon, MP, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Workers Party and left leaning party leaders Anisur Rahman Mallick, Bimol Biswas, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Hafizur Rahman, MP and Mostafa Lutfullah, MP, were present at the inauguration ceremony which was chaired by Iqbal Kabir Jahid, district secretary of WP.
Earlier, the left leaders visited Malopara in Abhaynagar where religious minorities came under attack on the polling day.
