On the second day (February 2) of the month-long ‘Amar Ekushey Boi Mela ’09,’ 22 new books including novels, essays, poetry and publications on Liberation were launched. A discussion and a cultural programme were also part of the day’s programme.
Among those launched on February 2 are: ten novels, three essays and books on history, poetry and Liberation War.
Adorn Publications brought out seven books. Muhammad Habibur Rahman’s “Tagore, Ibsen and Other Essays” and Professor Mansur Musa’s “Purba Banglar Upanyash” are among six books published by Adorn. Shawkat Osman’s novel “Kritodasher Hashi (Laughter of a Slave)” has been republished by the house. Simon Zakaria’s novel “Ke Taharey Chintey Pare” is also available at Adorn’s stall.
Afsar Brothers has published Humayun Ahmed’s “Priyo Padorekha.” Ahmed’s sibling, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal’s Liberation War based book “Muktijuddher Itihash” is available at Pratiti’s stall.
Ameer Prakashan, Bhumika Prakash and Ad Media has published six novels by writer Hayder Ansari including “Patita,” “Meherzan” and “Smritir Arshitey”.
Agami Prokashani has launched a collection of poetry titled “Mohammad Moniruzzaman: Kobi O Kobid.”
A discussion was held in the afternoon at the Burdwan House premises. The discussion featured a keynote paper titled “Shambhabonar Bangaldesh: Bhasha Charcha.” Professor Mansur Musa presented the keynote paper. Professor Moniruzzaman, Professor Muhammad Daniul Haque and Kazi Muhammad Waliullah were the discussants at the programme. Professor Rafiqul Islam presided over the session.
A cultural programme followed the discussion. Noted artistes performed traditional songs at the programme.
