Brothers Union manager Amer Khan has told the Bangladesh Football Federation that his interview aired on a local television channel on match fixing was fabricated and incomplete as he was summoned by the federation. Amer in an interview with Ekattor TV on on Monday said that they had to concede a defeat in their Bangladesh Premier League match against Abahani Limited under pressure from higher authorities.
The federation summoned him on the issue in response to what he said on television.
‘The interview aired on television is fabricated and unethically edited. It broadcast my quotes out of the order and set my words in a way as if I was making a confession,’ Amer said just after his meeting with the federation.
‘I strongly protest at the report which is false, fabricated and broadcast with an ill motive,’ Amer added.
Amer said that he had talked with the reporter for more than one hour and talked about a lot of issues when the topic of match fixing came up.
‘I spoke to the reporter when he asked why we lost against Rahmatganj despite being lot more stronger team and I then said that we lost against Abahani, who were reduced in number, as well. Will you call that match fixing as well?’ Amer said.
‘On another occasion, I told him that I had to lose a
lot of matches deliberately when I was a player and the reporter added this quote to my comment on the Abahani match,’ Amer said.
The federation’s senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, and also the professional league committee chairman, said that they had asked for the uncut tape of the whole interview and also decided to speak to the reporter.
‘We will continue with the investigation. Now we will examine the uncut tape of the interview and will talk with the reporter to find out the fact,’ Salam said.
