Bangladesh Cricket Board’s ad-hoc committee member AZM Nasir apparently acted as a postman as he took 10 councillorship letters to hand over to the representatives of different districts of Chittagong Division.
Rival group alleged that Nasir took the responsibility, which is supposed to be done by a messenger or a postman as specified in the BCB constitution, to influence the councillor nomination process of the districts.
The section 12.6 of the new BCB constitution said the chief operating officer will seek councillorship from different affiliated bodies through a circular for an election after he is ordered by the BCB president.
Nasir, who is general secretary of the Chittagoong District Sports Association, on Friday admitted to have
received the letters for what he said was to distribute among the concerned authorities.
‘Yes I took the letters for the different district sports associations of my division,’ Nasir told New Age on Friday.
‘But the reason was to hand them over to the concerned authorities. It can only be termed wrong if the letters do not reach the intended persons,’ he added.
Interestingly, Nasir did not take the letter of his own association.
Nasir is reportedly playing a big role in BCB president Nazmul Hasan’s attempt to create a division among the district and divisional sports organisers, who are largely backing the former president Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the election.
