Hundreds of Humayun Ahmed’s fans will pay respect to the iconic writer and playwright by placing wreaths and flowers on the author’s grave on the first anniversary of his death today.
A marble plaque with an epitaph, two lines from a Tagore’s song, Charana dharite diyo go amare, niyo na niyo na saraye, will be set this morning on the grave under a lychee tree at Nuhash Palli, Humayun’s resort in Gazipur.
‘The grave area has been designed in keeping with what he wished it to as written in his short story Osukh,’ Humayun’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon, who was supervising the final task, said on Wednesday evening.
Actor Shaon further said that she would make a documentary on Humayun Ahmed. ‘I have many photographs and video footages portraying some unique moments of Humayun Ahmed with which I intend to make a documentary’, said Shaon.
She further added that she had already directed three teleplays based on Humayun’s stories and plans to adopt more of his writings for dramas in the future.
‘I’ve directed Neemphul based on his popular short story Chokh, which will be aired on his death anniversary on Channel-i. Two other teleplays based on his works titled Angul and Beenar Osukh will be aired respectively on Channel-i and Banglavision during the upcoming Eid festival,’ Shaon added.
‘Humayun Ahmed is that treasure-house which will never exhaust. He will never die’, Shaon said.
