Ansar, BJMC reach final
Defending champions Bangladesh Ansar and re-enrolled Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) moved into the final of the Exim Bank 21st National Women’s Handball Championship beating respective rivals in semifinals at the Handball Stadium yesterday.
The final be held tomorrow while the losing sides of the semifinals play in the place-deciding match today at the same venue.
Bangladesh Ansar dominated Dhaka from the outset to take a comfortable 10-5 first-half lead before posting an easy 18-10 win in the first semifinal. Shahida and Bhulu scored eight and five goals respectively for the winners while Sathi and Jolly scored three goals each.
In the second semifinal, BJMC thrashed Dhaka University by a massive 23-6 margin as the winners proved too strong for the amateurs of Dhaka University and by end of the first-half they took a commanding 16-3 lead in the one-way traffic.
